The Flight Plan

0.0 - 0.15 mi

From the Day Use parking area, turn right onto the paved road towards the start of the Creamery Meadows Trail. Cross the Big Sur River, which, depending on the time of year, may or may not have a footbridge.

0.15 - 0.9 mi

Follow the Creamery Meadows Trail until it intersects with the Ridge Trail.

0.9 - 3.6 mi

Turn left onto the Ridge Trail and continue following the trail along a series of rolling climbs. The scenery will change from open meadows to lush, coastal forests.

3.6 - 5.8 mi

At the intersection with the Panorama Trail, bear right and start by following the park boundary down a fun descent that will turn inland and reward you with sweeping ocean views.

5.8 - 7.0 mi

At approximately 5.8 mi, the Panorama Trail changes imperceptibly into the Bluffs Trail. Continue following the trail along this stretch of quintessential California coast.

7.0 - 8.0 mi

The Bluffs Trail meets back up with the Ridge Trail. Make a quick left to return down to the Creamery Meadows Trail and retrace your steps back to the Big Sur River crossing and the parking lot.

Tips

  • Bring a pair of sandals or water shoes for crossing the river and stash them in the shrubs on the other side of the crossing.

  • Check the State Park website for any access issues - Highway 1 washes out occasionally.

  • If you want to avoid the parking fee, you can try to park on a pull-out along Highway 1 before the entrance to the park.
